Song of Self
(not really a song… just a poem)

a dark expanse, ever existing
blackest night forever frightening
no, not I, I harbor no dark
I nourish my sun, the light inside
life is black, dim, no more
I expand within myself
absorb my own knowledge
learn of myself, this feeble self
nothing more than mortal
trying to escape, yet grasping at purpose
I cannot deny this, this is me, this is all
forever existing to search for ourselves
what happens when we find us?
purpose discovered is truly meaningless
we have no purpose, but to find purpose
it seems bleak of course
yet no one is full without emptiness
